Yes, you need to continue to pay your current student loan payment amount until you have received your new payment. Failure to pay your loan may cause your loans to be in "default" and you will not get credit for IDR forgiveness plans until you have corrected the issue.
While the Department of Education claims that it takes 30 days to process you can expect up to 12 weeks for typical processing times baring any delays by the dept of Education or loan servicers.
You will need to reapply in approximately one year.
